Report: More hate groups in Ky; hate crimes fall

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky Justice Cabinet has released
a report that shows the number of hate crimes in the state fell
substantially in 2007.

The bad news is that the number of "hate groups" rose that
year.

Spokeswoman Jennifer Brislin said Tuesday that Kentucky had 13
active hate groups in the state in 2007, up from 11 the year
before. She said eight of the groups are chapters of the Ku Klux
Klan.

The findings are part of a newly released report prepared by the
Kentucky Statistical Analysis Center, an agency of the Justice
Cabinet.
