Jessamine County authorities are working with officials from the Norfolk Southern Railroad Company to figure out what led to a man being struck by a train early Saturday morning.
According to a spokesperson from the railroad company, a man called police saying he had been struck by a train at 8 Saturday morning.
The incident did not take place at a railroad crossing leaving investigators to believe the man must have been walking near the tracks.
The man was airlifted to UK Hospital with head injuries.
Norfolk Southern officials confirmed that one of their trains was in the area at the time of the incident but no one on the train's crew saw a person on the tracks.
