Crews rescue man trapped underground

A rescue attempt at a Jessamine County rock quarry Tuesday morning. Emergency workers had to get a man to the surface who had fallen about 20 feet at the Lexington Quarry Company on Catnip Hill.

The Jessamine Fire chief says the Quarry's mine safety crew did a good job getting the man out of the mine. He says much of the work was done for them by the time they arrived on the scene. The man had been stabilized and was close to the surface before fire crews arrived.

He says the victim suffered several broken bones in his leg and was complaining of back pain when they put him in the ambulance. The unidentified man was taken to UK Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
