The owner of a dog is upset that someone has tried to poison him.

Lyndsey Wise says she found a bowl of dog food, chicken and antifreeze near her back porch on Zandale drive in Lexington. Luckily, she was able to find it before her mastiff, Duke was.

"I don't know why anyone would try to hurt him because he is good with kids and all the neighbors love him, " said Wise.

Neighbors agreed that Duke is not a nuisance and stays inside the house all the time.

Wise says this is the second time someone has tried to poison him. Last year, someone put rat poison in a bowl of food and he ate it. He had to go to the vet and stay on medication for a month. Wise says they have no enemies and wonder why someone is trying to hurt her dog.

Lexington police say if someone is caught they will face animal cruelty charges and criminal trespass.
