Investigators are trying to determine the identity of a body found in a remote area of Lee County.
State police say the woman's body was found Wednesday off Kentucky 587 near the Jackson County line.
Police say the victim had not been there very long. They suspect the partially decomposed body was in the area no more than a week.
The woman's partially clothed body was reportedly wrapped in a sleeping bag. Police have ruled her death a homicide, but will not say exactly how she was killed. They feel releasing that information could compromise the investigation.
While police do not have an official identity on the victim, 27 NEWSFIRST has been told authorities are looking at missing person cases in the area and have a good lead on her possible identity.
