Water main break ties up traffic on busy Lexington road

Some traffic troubles Friday afternoon along a busy Lexington road.

Clays Mill Road near Lexington Catholic was shut down for several hours after a water main break.

Emergency crews were called to the scene after a car crash took out a fire hydrant. Then just 60 feet down the road, a main water line ruptured.

Water was pouring across Clays Mill Road and into the parking lot of Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Church.

Crews with Kentucky-American water shut down the water line. They have to wait for the water to recede before making repairs. That part of Clays Mill Road is expected to be closed through 9 p.m. Friday.
