LANCASTER - A Garrard County grand jury has indicted a woman in connection with a burglary that left her boyfriend dead last month, reports the Danville Advocate Messenger in its Sunday edition.
Tanya Fowler, 35, of Berea was indicted on one charge of second-degree burglary and one charge of being a persistent felony offender.
Fowler has been identified as the girlfriend of Dallas Richard Helton.
Helton allegedly broke into a house near Cartersville in July and was shot and killed by the homeowner, Herlin McQuerry, 67, of 1524 Old Richmond Road.
Police said Fowler and Helton's juvenile son were in a car at the scene of the break-in and shooting. They drove off before police arrived but later returned and were arrested.
After being arrested, Fowler had been in the Lincoln County Regional Jail but later bonded out, a jail deputy said Saturday.
State police spokesman Chris Lanham had said a grand jury would review McQuerry as well even though there were no charges filed against him initially. McQuerry's name was not included on the list of those indicted from Wednesday's grand jury session, reports The Danville Advocate Messenger.
