Two different Shell Stations in two cities are robbed and now police say the same man may be responsible.

In Lexington, a clerk came face to face with a gun at the Shell station on New Circle at Russell Cave around three Thursday morning.

The robber was wearing a a white shirt over his face.

Police dogs tracked a scent to Hollow Creek Drive near an apartment complex but weren't able to make an arrest.

Then just 45 minutes later, Police in Georgetown headed to the Shell station on Broadway at Showalter. Police say in this case, the clerk had stepped outside the store seeconds before the armed suspect walked in. When the man, wearing a white shirt to cover his face, realized the clerk was outside, he tried to get the clerk to come in. Police say the clerk took off, running to a nearby CVS Pharmacy for help. The armed man went back inside the store and tried to open the register. Police say he got away empty handed.

Police in both cities suspect the same man was responsible for both robberies based on video surveillance of the crimes.

Police are still searching for the suspect.
