More rounds of showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain will be pressing through the area this evening and tonight. Numerous Flash Flood Warnings have been issued for parts of our region.
A major repair project is set to begin this weekend after a sewer line broke near Lexington's Hamburg Pavilion. A sewer main began leaking raw sewage near Star Shoot Parkway and Flying Ebony Drive this week. Raw sewage covered the ground. Crews plan to open fire hydrants on Call Drive, Thunderstick Drive and Elkhorn Road. This will lower the water pressure in the area. Drivers are asked to be careful in this area because of all the water on the road. Work will begin about 11 p.m. Saturday and is expected to last about 8 hours. During that time, waste-water will be released into an unnamed tributary of Bryan Station Creek. Crews will then install a new pipe into the sewer main.
