A former Eastern Kentucky deputy judge executive was sentenced this morning after a guilty plea in connection with a sex sting.
Walter Hardin admitted to trying to lure what he thought was a teenage girl to Lexington, in order to have sex with her.
He also admitted to downloading 14 videos and hundreds of pictures of children engaged in sexual explicit acts.
Despite those charges, prominent members of the community wrote letters requesting leniency during sentencing.
But despite those requests, Hardin was sentenced to 20 years behind bars.
Hardin will be eligible for parole, after serving 85 percent of his sentence.
