There's been a lot of confusion in the city of Richmond lately.
It started when lawmakers made stricter laws about who could get inside a city vehicle. The new rule says city employees only. It doesn't seem bizarre, but it was written in a way that made some question if police would use their cruisers to take a suspect to jail.
But city officials say that's not the case, "People were just reading too much into it", says David Evans city manager. But he says lawmakers don't want to leave any room for error, so the City Commission will tweak the vehicle usage policy again on Tuesday evening.
The new policy will continue to limit who can get inside a city owned vehicle, however, it will leave more room for upper-level managers to make an exception when the need arises.
