Football player critically injured during game

It looked like a normal play at first.

But now, a high school football player is fighting for his life after being injured during a game.

The 17-year-old, who attends Bullitt East High School in Mount Washington, is now in critical condition with a brain injury.

Officials say the player took a hard helmet to helmet hit Monday night, during Bullitt East's junior varsity game against Holy Cross.

The player came off the field a bit dazed and was immediately rushed to the hospital.

The 17-year-old plays on both varsity and junior varsity squads. An attorney for the school says he requested to play in the JV game Monday to improve his defensive skills.

Many people are looking for any video of the hit, hoping to learn more about what happened.

The player is now in critical condition at University Hospital in Louisville.

The attorney for the school says the player had surgery Monday night to relieve pressure on his brain.
