The Paris City Commission is saying "no" to Sunday alchol sales.
The 5-0 vote happened Tuesday evening in downtown Paris. Many business owners and commerce officials claimed that Sunday sales would be a real economic boost for current businesses, and attract additional business to come to town.
But many in the religious community felt extending sales to their day of worship would be disrespectful and unnecessary. In addition, others felt that extending alcohol sales to seven days a week would cause more people to drink excessively.
After hearing all the arguments the city commissioners decided that Sundays would remain dry in Paris.
