Rounds of showers and storms continue to develop. Some of these could be strong and put down very heavy rainfall. Watch for local high water issues.
Doug and Donna McQuinn have lived on Applegrove Drive in Nicholasville for 17 years. They have always felt safe in their home and in their neighborhood.
But over the weekend, the couple took a mini-vacation. While they were gone, thieves came into their home and ransacked it. They got away with about $8,000 to $10,000 worth of possessions and vandalized the McQuinn's home. They likely got in through a garage door that their house sitter had accidentally left open.
The crime took place sometime between 11:00 p.m. Saturday and 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
One of the McQuinn's televisions was recovered in Mingo Park. That's where witnesses reported seeing two juveniles carrying it and dumping it when someone yelled at them. A valuable guitar that was custom-built by Doug McQuinn was also among the items stolen from the home.
The McQuinn's dog was home when the crime occurred but was not injured.
Police say they have no suspects and have no reports of similar crimes in the area. If you have any information on this crime, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 877-970-2020.
