Miners and Families Fight for Mine Safety Bill

Coal miners and families want a vote on a bill they say would make mining safer in Kentucky.

Last week, miners' widows were heard in a committee, but no vote was taken.

Many of them attended a rally at the state capitol on Wednesday. They say they're outraged that some in the coal industry have said that the bill would not have saved lives in recent Kentucky mine accidents.

The bill would require more safety inspections, medical personnel in the mines, and methane detectors.

Some mine officials claim the bill would contradict federal mandates already in place.

Do you have any more information to share about this bill?
