Governor Offers Incentives To Horse Breeders

A new incentive program is paying off for thoroughbred breeders in Kentucky. Governor Fletcher announced today the state awarded more than 12 million dollars in incentives to Kentucky breeders.

The money is from a sales tax paid on stud fees.

The program is designed to keep the state on top of the horse industry by encouraging breeders from around the world to breed their mares in Kentucky.

Incentive payments are based on the foal's eventual winnings.

Overbrook Farm and Sun Valley Farms are among the horse farms who received incentives.
