The Executive Branch Ethics Commission is accusing State Highway Commissioner Marc Williams of an ethics violation for trying to influence an engineering contract.
Officials say Williams tried steering the contract to a specific company in 2005. The charge says Williams violated rules that attempt to remove favoritism from the contract award process.
The commission could impose a fine of up to five thousand dollars and recommend that he be fired but Williams says he expects to be cleared of the violation.
