Some Residents Packing Up And Breaking Leases

After several arson fires in a few months time, some people living in a Lexington apartment complex say it's just not worth the risk.

That's why some at the Kirklevington Hills apartments are packing up today even though they're still bound by a lease.

Police are investigating the fire that ripped through the apartments early Monday morning.

Now police say the fire is being investigated as arson.

Three fires in 5 months have destroyed thousands of dollars worth of property and even left some homeless during the holidays.

The first fire, back in October, heavily damaged the leasing office. The second in December ripped through 15 apartments, including the unit where managers had moved the leasing office.

Monday morning a small fire started in the owner's third floor apartment. Sprinklers squelched the flames but the water dripped to the two floors below causing many to have to find a new place to stay.
