Our focus now turns to the potential of record lows tonight. Many areas may wake up to thermometer readings below zero.
A fire that ripped through several buildings in downtown Frankfort last weekend was intentionally set. That's the word today from state and federal officials looking into the fire on St. Clair Street.
The fire caused more than a million dollars in damage early Sunday morning.
Thursday afternoon, investigators with the ATF, state fire marshal, as well as Frankfort Police and Fire Departments confirmed the fire that destroyed three historical buildings was, in fact, arson.
Earlier this week, officials said the fire started on the second story of one of the buildings, above the Downtown Bar.
The investigators determined the fire did not start from natural gas, faulty electrical work or heating, leading to this arson investigation.
So far, there have been no arrests and investigators have not discussed whether or not they have any suspects in mind.
Anyone with information on this crime should call Frankfort Police at (502) 875-8523.
