Police Chase Ends With Officer Injured

A chase that started in Richmond ends in Lexington.
It all began around 3:30 this morning.

Richmond Police say they went to the Waffle House on the Bypass after four men refused to pay their bill.
We're told that bill was in excess of $100.

Police tell 27 NEWSFIRST the suspects tried to run over several officers, including the Police Chief. A chase ensued down Interstate 75. It ended when the suspect's vehicle crashed at the intersection of Winchester Road and Man O'War in Lexington. Officers say the pursuit reached speeds of 100 miles per hour.

After the crash, officers say the suspects fled on foot. One officer was injured after falling over a fence. Officer Stephen Parker has been treated and released for back injuries.

Lexington Police and Kentucky State Police helped catch the suspects.

The suspected driver, Shawn D. Caldwell, is charged with reckless driving, D.U.I., Fleeing and Evading, No operator license, and wanton endangerment.

Robert Fitzgerald Greer is charged with alcohol intoxication, fleeing and evading, and resisting arrest.

Richmond police have charged Devin L. Chenault with Fleeing and Evading, alcohol intoxication, and resisting arrest. He's also charged with identity theft because officers say he gave his brother's name after his arrest.

The suspects have been taken to the Madison County Detention Center.
