Flu Hitting Kentucky Later Than Usual

The flu is hitting Kentucky later than usual this year. But doctors say many people are diagnosing their late season illnesses as just a cold or allergies. But some of them actually have the flu.
Doctors say many people are also trying to self-medicate with over the counter medicines that aren't strong enough to fight the flu.
The flu is very contagious, so if you get it, doctors say you need to stay home until you're feeling better.
They also advise getting lots of rest and drinking plenty of fluids.
To keep the flu from spreading, they advise washing your hands frequently and covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze.
It's still not too late to get a flu shot either.
