DALLAS, Texas (AP) - A Kentucky horse consignor is apparently going to be dropped from a Texas lawsuit. The federal court action has alleged fraud in the horse industry.
Texas retail furniture baron James McIngvale sued several of his former advisers last September, alleging they conspired against him to drive up the prices of thoroughbred horses.
McIngvale added several consignors to the lawsuit, including Eaton Sales of Kentucky.
Attorneys for McIngvale filed documents in U-S District Court in Texas last week, asking that Eaton Sales be dismissed from the case. The documents say Eaton Sales had provided information on two horses in question and it did not appear Eaton Sales had participated in any wrongdoing.
Named in the original lawsuit were bloodstock agents and brothers J.B. and Kevin McKathan and trainer Bob Baffert. Baffert and McKathan have denied McIngvale's allegations, and the McKathans have filed a countersuit.
