A Whitley County grandmother is recovering from a serious beating she says came at the hand of her grandson.

Julia Barton has bruises on her arms and hands, and has cuts on her head after an attack that happened in her home last week.

She claims William Kirkland, her grandson, attacked her and his wife in an angry rage, stole her car, and then crashed it shortly after.

She tells 27 NEWSFIRST the alleged beating came without warning. She believes her grandson may have been under the influence at the time.

Kirkland is being held at the Whitley County Detention Center.
