Very slow moving showers and thunderstorms will move into our area overnight and Sunday. The potential for flooding will be heightened in southern and eastern Kentucky.
Today, AirTran Airways announced nonstop flights between Lexington and two locations in Florida.
"We are constantly looking at cities and airports and we felt that Lexington was an underserved market" said AirTran spokesperson Cynthia Tinsley-Douglas.
The flights begin in February. The cheapest ticket offered is a ninety-nine dollar one way flight to Orlando. One way flights to Ft. Lauderdale start at one hundred and nine dollars.
If the flights are successful both the airport and AirTran say there is room for growth.
Local travel agents say the people who will benefit most are travelers who are planning cruises. Airport officials hope the affordable flights will encourage travel in the winter.
