Police investigating what caused woman's death

The Franklin County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a 53 year old grandmother. Bette Winn died Sunday morning. She was found unresponsive at a friend's home in Frankfort. Her friend, Stephen Hanley, says she went to his house to be safe. Police believe the woman was beaten up Saturday night by her boyfriend, Greg Wilson. Police reports say Wilson attacked Winn in her sleep at the home where they both lived. Franklin County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Wilson and charged him with fourth degree assault Saturday night. Bette Winn died Sunday morning. Hanley says she went to sleep at his home and never woke up. Police are now trying to determine if Winn's death was a direct result of the alleged attack. An autopsy has been performed on Winn's body, but authorities can't say the exact cause of her death until toxicology results are returned. Authorities estimate that could take 10 days. Right now, authorities are calling this a death investigation, not a murder investigation. No one is being charged in connection with Winn's death. Greg Wilson has been released from the Franklin County jail. As of now, he only faces fourth degree assault charges.
