Queen Will Visit Derby and Kentucky Horse Farms

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A published report says Queen Elizabeth the second will be in Kentucky the first weekend of May to attend the Kentucky Derby and visit Lexington-area horse farms.

The Sunday Times of London says the queen will be the guest of William Farish, who owns Lane's End Farm near Versailles in central Kentucky. Farish is the former U-S ambassador to Great Britain.

The Times quotes the queen's racing manager as saying the queen and Prince Philip will spend the mornings of May fifth and sixth visiting horse farms. They'll be taken to Churchill Downs in Louisville after lunch on May fifth to attend the Derby.

The trip to Kentucky is part of the queen's visit to the United States to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of the British colony of Jamestown, Virginia.
