Churchill Downs Added to The Police's Concert Tour

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The Police will bring their reunion concert tour to Churchill Downs this summer, as the home of the Kentucky Derby is becoming a stomping ground for rock `n' roll royalty.

The July 14 concert was announced Monday by Churchill Downs and will be an encore for the famed race track, which played host to The Rolling Stones last September in the track's first major concert.

Churchill Downs President Steve Sexton said The Police will provide "another incredible musical experience set against the backdrop of our world-famous Twin Spires."

He said the latest concert will "possibly establish another major event tradition" in Louisville.

Tickets will range from $50 to $225 and will go on sale March 26.

The Police's first tour in decades will include stops across North America and in Europe. The group, whose hits include "Roxanne" and "Message in a Bottle," broke up in 1984. Members Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland have since pursued individual careers.

The rock trio Fiction Plane will join The Police for the North American part of the tour, including the Churchill Downs concert.
