Teacher arrested for allegedly buying drugs, leaving child at home alone

A Central Kentucky teacher sits in jail this afternoon, charged with leaving her toddler home alone so she could go partying.

38-year old Erica Shannon Cooper is now suspended from Henry Clay High School while prosecutors pursue charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and drug possession.

Police were tracking known crack cocaine dealer last night in Lexington.

When they went to get him for trying to make a sale, they learned Cooper was the person trying to make the buy.

Cooper was taken to the Fayette County Detention Center where she told authorities that she'd left her child home alone, and someone needed to go get her.

Police found marijuana in Cooper's house when they went to get kid.

Cooper will be be in court Monday.
