Mercury Spill At County Jail

A scare Tuesday at one central Kentucky jail after a mercury spill.

Emergency crews were called to the Scott County Detention Center just before noon. Police tell 27 NEWSFIRST a blood pressure device in the infirmary fell off the wall and broke.

It had a small amount of mercury inside, which spilled.

The spill was quickly cleaned up and no one had to be evacuated. A woman inside the room at the time was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
