Soldiers And Their Families Recognized For Their Sacrifice

The Kentucky Army National Guard honored some soldiers from the Commonwealth for their service in Afghanistan.
The freedom salute ceremony held Sunday at Keeneland recognized guardsmen from task force Cumberland. Every guard unit deployed overseas gets a ceremony like this about 90 to 120 days after its return home. Task Force Cumberland was deployed to Afghanistan in July of 2005 and returned home a year later.
Each guardsman received an encased American flag, a commemorative coin, a certificate of appreciation and a lapel insignia. The soldier's spouse and children also received gifts for their support.
