Horse Park Fails to get Funding to Prepare for Equestrian Games

Print

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky Horse Park came away empty-handed after seeking money to build an outdoor stadium in preparation for the 2010 World Equestrian Games.

The General Assembly's inaction on the spending request hasn't jeopardized the Horse Park's status as the host for the event. The Games are expected to attract global attention and hundreds of thousands of equestrian fans to central Kentucky.

Other measures that died sought to restore about 370 (M) million dollars worth of projects vetoed by Governor Fletcher a year earlier.

Fletcher failed to win legislative backing to provide extra money to the Horse Park and other initiatives.
