Bomb Scare Suspect Speaks Out from Jail

Video will be available shortly

Randy Back is in the Big Sandy Detention Center, charged with second degree use of a weapon of mass destruction and first degree wanton endangerment.

On Monday, police say Back put an explosive device underneath his vehicle, then drove to downtown Salyersville.

Back says it's all a mistake, and that his ex-wife and her husband actually planted the device. He says she threatened to hurt him.
Back says he stopped for gas Monday afternoon, and noticed wires hanging from his car. But instead of calling police, he got back in his car, and drove to the police department.

Back says no one there would listen to him. Later, someone noticed the device on his car at Magoffin Plaza, and called police.

Police say their investigation determined Back planted the device himself, so that's why they arrested him Tuesday night.

27 NEWSFIRST tried to contact his ex-wife, but she was not available for comment.

Back is still in the Big Sandy Detention Center on $100,000 bond. He'll be in court Monday.
