One dead, three wounded in southeastern Kentucky shooting.

LOT, Ky. (AP) - A southeastern Kentucky man allegedly shot his way into a house early Wednesday morning, killing one man and injuring three others, police said.

Police in Whitley County received a call at 7:20 a.m. EDT that a shooting had occurred at a home near the Tennessee border, Sheriff Lawrence Hodge said.

Hodge said police organized a search for the suspect, Teddy Keith Hurst, 40, and arrested him Wednesday afternoon near the house where the shooting occurred.

A grandfather was killed and his son, grandson and a woman were wounded, but they suffered non-life threatening injuries, Hodge said. The grandfather was struck in the head, Hodge said.

Identities of the victims were not immediately available.

Hodge said Hurst, who is from Frakes in Bell County, allegedly shot his way into the house with an M1-style rifle and opened fire on the people inside.

Kentucky State Police trooper Don Trosper said Hurst will likely be charged with murder and three counts of either attempted murder or assault.
