Floridia Clears Talks With Billy Donovan

27 NEWSFIRST learned of a major step Wednesday night in the search for the University of Kentucky's next basketball coach.

Sources have confirmed that Kentucky asked the University of Florida for permission to speak with coach Billy Donovan.

Permission was granted.

This is the first step in the process for Kentucky to have a chance at hiring Donovan.

Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley previously said that he would allow UK to speak with Donovan, but he said he intends on being able to keep Donovan.

At a news conference at Marshall University Wednesday, Donovan says he needs time to think about his future.
