Meth Lab Bust In Downtown Lexington

Police bust an active meth lab near downtown Lexington.

Police were called to the Wassmer Apartments on East High Street just before eleven Friday morning.

State probation and parole officers spotted some suspicious items in the home during a visit. Police say the meth lab was small, but active.

Police took Kevin Hewlett and Donald Wayne Lee into custody. They are charged with manufacturing and possession of methamphetamine.

The upstairs of the apartment building was evacuated for a short time. Neighbors tell 27 NEWSFIRST they had no idea dangerous activity was going on right next door.
