A man who admitted to causing head injuries to his former girlfriend's 2-year old son was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

23-year old Jonathan Reed did not say anything in Woodford county court Wednesday. The mother and family of now 5-year old Coby Payne read statements in court.

Payne suffered serious head injuries in 2006 when his mother says Reed was babysitting him. Still to this day, Sherry Payne says she doesn't know what sparked Reed to hurt her son.
She says Coby still suffers developmental problems and has to go to Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation hospital once a week.

Reed will be eligible for parole in February because he has already spent three years in jail.

I know the little fellow, what a great kid. What time he does stay in prison, hope he ENJOYS what he is in for. That will not be enough.

This is why Kentucky leads the nation in child abuse cases. The child will have to suffer for the rest of his life but this punk gets a slap on the wrist. If this punk had beaten up and caused permanant injury to some rich family who had political connections then he probably would've gotten the appropriate sentence. The rich are the only ones that get justice in Kentucky. The rest of us have to settle for plea deals so the county prosecutors don't have to work to hard.

I thought if a person is found guilty of a violent crime, the person had to serve 80% of the sentence before they could be considered for probation. Was this act not considered violent, or because it was committed against a child, was it not considered a "crime" ??????????????
