Drug store workers fight off would-be robber

Police say workers at a Lexington Rite-Aid fought off a would-be robber early Friday.

Police say a man wearing a paper bag, with holes cut out for his eyes, walked into the back room of the store on Nicholasville Road at Malabu Drive after 5 a.m.

That is when workers started throwing empty storage boxes at him.

Police say the robber grabbed one of the boxes and ran out of the store.

He was spotted running toward Surfside Drive.

One customer was in the store at the time and called 911.

The suspect remains on the loose.
