UK season tickets at a bar

With the John Calipari era tipping off Friday night in the season opener at Rupp Arena, a Lexington restaurant and bar has come up with a unique marketing idea involving UK basketball and ebay.

Bar Louie is selling booth season tickets for UK games on ebay. One has already sold for $425, and now they're taking bids for 2 more season booth tickets.

Bar Louie Manager Angela Spears tells 27 Newsfirst, "You get a booth in front of one of our 50 inch screens for every game during the season, home or away. When you come in, it's ready for you and 3 of your friends. We'll even have the name of the winning bidder on a plaque on the table."

And there's food and beverage included at the table for 4 Spears explains, "We'll take one free appetizer to the table for each game and 4 free drinks."

Of course chances are pretty good that those 4 fun loving fans are going to order at least another drink or two during the course of every game. Spears laughs as she says, "I hope so. That's the plan."

The successful bidders will also get UK sweatshirts. The owners of Bar Louie got together with Fan Outfitters to hatch this plan although the bar was filled on most game nights last year. Manager Spears says, "We didn't need to do this, but we like to do things fun and get customers involved, give them a reason to come out. For the drinks and appetizers, it's a little over a thousand dollar value."
