The trial of a woman charged for a deadly crash is now underway.

Sheila Whitler is charged with manslaughter and DUI for the 2007 death of John Vice.

Lexington Police say she hit John Vice with her Porsche as he crossed Man-O-War Boulevard near Lyon Drive.

He later died of his injuries.

On Monday, the victim's brother testified, along with several Lexington Police investigators.

Police say at the collision scene that day, they smelled alcohol on Sheila Whitler. They say she told authorities Vice jumped out in front of her.

Whitler's attorneys claim another vehicle may have been involved in Vice's death, saying the tire marks on the road that day where Vice was hit did not match Whitler's. Witnesses say Whitler was speeding moments before the collision.

The jury could get the case as soon as Wednesday.
