Bobby Mullins' family says even though he had terminal cancer he promised to be alive when justice was served for his murdered grandson.
Mullins was there the day Buck Ballard was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. He even testified during the trial. Sunday, just a couple of weeks later, Mullins lost his fight with cancer.
His daughter, Pam Jacques, says 6-year old Wesley was everything to her father and "we lost my dad the same day we lost Wesley."
Because Wesley stayed frequently with his grandfather and was killed while in his care, many blamed him for allowing the murder to happen, but Jacques and former police chief Tim Gray say that couldn't be further from the truth. "Wesley was his life and meant the world to him," said Jacques.
Mullins was 58.
