Comair Crash Victim Honored By UK Baseball Team

Saturday night the UK baseball team honored one of their former players who was killed eight months ago along with 49 others aboard Comair Flight 5191. Jon Hooker and his wife Scarlett were headed to their honeymoon when the plane went down. Jon played for the Cats from 1998 until 2001. He was an instrumental part of the UK Baseball team's success in 2000 when they won nearly 40 games. In 2001, the Chicago White Sox signed the right-hander as a free agent. On Saturday night, Jon's family received the game ball during a ceremony to mark his career at UK. His name can now also be found on the right field score board at at Cliff Hagan Stadium along with a Flight 5191 insignia.
