Burglar Suffered Beating, Police Said

A burglar got a lot more than he bargained for after he broke into a Richmond apartment.
Police said once inside the Turpin Drive apartment, Clayton Hampton got into a fight with the couple who lived there.
In an exclusive interview with 27 NEWSFIRST the residents of that apartment, Elmer Blanton and Violet Young, said they tried to chase Hampton off when he tried to break in. When he wouldn't stop, the two said they came after him with a machete and a flower pot. They said they believe Hampton was very drunk at the time. When police arrived they arrested the beaten up man. Hampton is charged with alcohol intoxication and second degree burglary.
Police said Blanton and Young will not face any charges.
