A Dunbar High School student has passed away from injuries resulting from a crash.

17-Year old Jesse Higgenbotham died at the University of Kentucky Medical Center this morning. The coroner's report says Higgenbotham died of multiple blunt force trauma.
We’re told he had a number of facial fractures and brain swelling.

Police say the Dunbar High School junior and three senior girls were involved in the crash at around 8:00 on westbound Versailles Road. The crash happened not far from Keeneland.

Police say the tire on the red Geo Prism went flat, causing the driver to lose control. The car slammed into a Keeneland vehicle that was parked on the side of the road. An employee of the track had stopped to turn on a message board sign.

The driver, Colleen Moureaux, and another passenger, were treated and released.
Mercedes Hopewell is still at UK. She's listed in serious condition.

School officials have an emergency crisis response team that is prepared to go to Dunbar.

The Lexington Legends held a moment of silence Thursday night for the Dunbar student killed in the car crash. Thursday night was Dunbar night at Applebees Park. It was supposed to be a time to honor the cheerleaders but instead the attention shifted to honoring the 17 year old.
