Around 5:30 Sunday night police say a man walked in to the McDonald's on Family Circle with a handgun and demanded money.

"He asked to see a manager, produced a weapon and took money from the register," said Commander Lawrence Weathers with the Lexington Police Department.

Employees last saw the suspect taking off towards East New Circle with a McDonalds bag filled with cash.

K-9 Units and a helicopter searched the area but he wasn't found.

The suspect is described as a white male with brown hair, wearing a dark grey hooded sweatshirt and a green baseball cap with gold lettering.

About two hours later police responded to another report of a robbery at the Waffle House on Richmond Road.

Employee Tammy Lewis says a man came in and robbed her co-worker at the cash register.

"She was cashing a customer out and he was standing behind a customer, and he said 'lets make this easy on both of us,'" said Lewis.

She says the man left on foot.

"I didn't see a weapon but I'm very glad everyone was ok," Lewis said.

The suspect's description is similar to that of the suspect involved in the Mcdonald's robbery, only he was wearing a white hat instead of green.

Lewis hopes police catch whoever robbed her place of work.

"So he doesn't really hurt somebody trying to do something stupid," Lewis said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

I kinda hope a few of the criminals get hurt, when they prey on the wrong person. A few more stories like that would likely cause more of them to reconsider.

Unfortunately, we're likely to see alot of this during this holiday and winter season. I just hope no one gets hurt.
