Police: Teenage Driver Hits Child and Flees

Lexington police tell us around 8:00 Monday night, a 5 year-old was hit by a white convertible.

Police say it happened on Cambridge Dr. near Village Drive. That's where police say the driver fled the scene. They say they found the teen's car just down the street, but the teenager had fled.

27 NEWSFIRST has learned after police questioned witnesses at an apartment complex, they learned the driver was a 16 year-old who did not have a license.

Police say they have not yet located the driver, and say they will issue a warrant.

The young victim was taken to UK Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
