Deadly Accident Involves County Official

A Central Kentucky official is under investigation for his role in a fiery crash that killed a man.
It happened early this morning along Highway 27 near Lancaster.

The crash left Garrard County Emergency Management Director Dwayne Nave seriously injured and killed the driver of the other vehicle, Will Quinn. Kentucky State Police tell 27 NEWSFIRST Nave was driving his official vehicle when he crossed the center line and hit Quinn's truck head on.

Garrard County high school students Josh Owens and Kayla Moore were behind Nave's SUV on their way home from prom and saw the wreck happen. Owens jumped out and rescued a passenger in Quinn's truck. He also checked on Nave. Witnesses on the scene say they smelled alcohol on Nave who was driving his official car.

Police say they are waiting on the results of Nave's blood test to file any charges.
