LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A health message is going to start appearing on Kentucky Fried Chicken's buckets, along with a likeness of founder, Colonel Harland Sanders.
The message banner proclaims that its chicken has zero grams of trans fat per serving.
The Louisville-based chain announced today that all 5500 of its U.S. restaurants have stopped frying chicken in artery-clogging trans fats. The company switched to a new soybean oil believed to be less likely to cause heart disease.
KFC executives say the change is good for customers and business.
Sister brand Taco Bell also said today that it has made a complete switch to a zero grams trans fat oil at its U.S. restaurants.
All 4200 single-brand Taco Bells were converted to a canola oil and all 1400 multibrand locations switched to a soybean oil.
