And They're Off!

Lexington Derby Eve parties were in full swing Friday night. From the formal affairs to the laid back festivities there was plenty of fun for all.

Over 600 people attended the Lexington Derby Ball at Donamire Farm. This year’s party, themed “Under the Sea,” was truly an enchanted evening. The black tie event benefits cancer research. At $1,000 for couples ages 35 and older and $500 for couples younger than 34, the charity is expected to raise thousands of dollars.

For those looking for a more casual atmosphere, the Poor Man’s Harlan County Derby Party was a shin dig not to be missed. The party held at B&B Morgan Tire featured live music, free massages, and helped out the Big Bothers/Big Sisters of the Bluegrass program. The $25 dollar admission also left plenty of money in the wallet for betting the Derby.

Lexington’s Legendary Derby Eve Blast at Applebee’s Park had plenty of fun for all. Bill Kelley’s “Elvis” Tribute was a huge hit, along with Jon Russell, and the Subject Band. Tickets were only $5 in advance and $10 at the door, so no one was left out in the rain.
