Governor's Derby Breakfast Draws Hungry Crowd

A huge crowd gathered early Saturday morning in Frankfort for a taste of a Derby tradition.
Thousands came out for the annual Governor's Derby Breakfast on the state capitol grounds.

They were able to take in lots of derby traditions, such as hat making and hobby horse races. But the highlight, of course, was the food.
The breakfast included a sampling of all the fine home cooking Kentucky has to offer, including country ham, sausage, biscuits, and cheese grits.

Officials estimate 13,000 meals were prepared. The Derby breakfast has been held every year since 1971.
