The mother of a teen shot and killed earlier this week is pleading for anyone with information on her son's death to come forward.
17-year-old Ali Shalash was shot and killed on Monday at a home on Dorset Drive. Police are still investigating what happened. Meanwhile, his mother is asking anyone with information to come forward.
"He was a very loving child. Any mother would want him as a son", says Gwen Perkins, the mother of Ali Shalash.
There's a lot Gwen Perkins can say about her son, Ali Shalash.
"He always told me he loved me. he loved to sing. He was always happy. he was not a trouble child at all", says Ali Shalash.
There's also a lot Perkins wasn't able to say. Ali Shalash was shot and killed inside this home on Dorset Drive on Monday where teenager Jamar Mays lives.
"They're best friends", Perkins says.
The family fays they were told someone was trying to come into the home when the gunshot went off hitting Shalash.
"Jamar told me someone was trying to come through the window and panicked and the gun when off", Perkins says.
Gwen Perkins says she doesn't know if this is what happened or if the shooting was an accident. Either way, she's just hoping someone comes forward with information about what happened to her son, who she says meant everything to her.
"It will give me closure when I know the facts and what happened to my child", says Perkins.
So far there have been no arrests in this case. If you have any information on this shooting call Lexington Police or Crime Stoppers at (859) 253-2020.
